Movement and dance has been a form of spiritual practice for as long as humans have been alive. There are many forms of styles of movement, but all of them center around moving from the body and from staying attuned in the moment, instead of a prior idea of what is correct or good.
For those on an awakening journey, movement practice can be beneficial at times when meditation is difficult or impossible. It can work in conjunction with meditation with tremendous synergy. Or, the practice can act as a its own whole exploration for working with energy and feeling, and deepening in presence and embodied divinity.
